VoIP(Voice over IP)
Let's Talk - Switching to IP telephony
A data network is no longer something just for carrying data. It is something that can carry your "voice services" too.
Which is why more and more large organisations and enterprises are preparing to abandon their traditional, line-based telephone systems and embrace
"Voice over IP" (VoIP).
Users expect a dial-tone and to be able to communicate clearly. Businesses expect their IT departments to provide reliable voice services.
IP Telephony is one of the most critical business applications running over the network. Voice services can't go down or revenue generating operations are put at risk. Management software is a critical component of an IP telephony solution that ensures organizations receive maximum value from their IP telephony investments.
Sandiy Software's Network Services Management Solution for IP Telephony combines fault and performance management capabilities to provide the following benefits:
- Connects IT with the business via out-of-the-box SLA reporting
- Maximizes the availability and performance of your voice service
- Tracks service usage trends for capacity planning
- Enables optimization of network resources for VoIP
- Increases operational efficiencies via common tools for voice, data and network operations teams

What is VoIP?
VoIP_Voice over IP - that is, voice delivered using the Internet Protocol) is a term used in IP telephony for a set of facilities for managing the delivery of voice information using the Internet Protocol (IP.
In general, this means sending voice information in digital form in discrete packets rather than in the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
A major advantage of
VoIP and Internet telephony is that it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service.
VoIP, now used somewhat generally, derives from the
VoIP Forum, an effort by major equipment providers, including Cisco, VocalTec, 3Com, and Netspeak to promote the use of ITU-T H.323, the standard for sending voice (audio) and video using IP on the public Internet and within an intranet.
The Forum also promotes the user of directory service standards so that users can locate other users and the use of touch-tone signals for automatic call distribution and voice mail.I
Are you joking?
No, we would never joke about something as important as this.
Ordinarily one of the great disincentives to change is the disruption that it causes. Another is cost.
Herein lies the attraction of a properly managed
VoIP service.
There need not be a traumatic upheaval or a significant upfront expenditure.
Your data network is a phone system in waiting. It can use the same handsets and the same numbers, and provide the same or better voice quality
